I'm not sure. Questions about Chromium's settings are probably best directed to the Chromium project.
Privacy Browser Android Forum: Did chrome merge cookies and DOM storage ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/4842024-03-15T07:27:23Zask low

When I last checked the site configuration toggles in android's chromium, the 1st party cookie toggle just vanished. There's only "3rd party cookies" and "On-device site data".
What's going on ?
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: [discussion] Content Filteringhttps://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/343?r=483#message-4832024-02-21T09:59:12Zask low

Also. The Divest OS page that you're viewing, is outdated.
One of the core Tor problems it that it is based on the assumption that no single entity will ever control a large percentage of the nodes. In practice, that assumption has turned out to be false.

I heard that Tor has a bandwidth overhead that adds a small padding of 512 bytes of Tor circuits while hopping through relay nodes. But those circuits can be decrypted easily when node addresses are exposed. This means securing the protocols is necessary.

Although, I stopped torring caz it's dog slow, consumes more bandwidth & takes a lot of time to even load sites. Didn't think it's worth continuing. I'm fine with my cellular ISPs snooping on me. They already got my social ID & other KYC so why even try to hide my regular surfing. If I'm in Iran, that could've made sense.
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=479#message-4792024-02-19T18:08:54ZSoren Stoutnersoren@stoutner.com

People who use Tor will make the argument that you don't need to use HTTPS because everything is encrypted at the Tor level. That is based on the premise that Tor's encryption is secure. I, personally, do not make that assumption.
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=478#message-4782024-02-18T12:40:55Zask low

Btw just an offtopic question. searxng got onion engines.
WebView does have some built-in telemetry, which they call metrics.

https://developer.android.com/develop/ui/views/layout/webapps/managing-webview#metrics

However, an app can disable it with an entry in the manifest, which Privacy Browser Android does.

https://gitweb.stoutner.com/?p=PrivacyBrowserAndroid.git;a=blob;f=app/src/main/AndroidManifest.xml;h=968bfeb11297f97560cd6d3c3c3e685a87573a09;hb=HEAD#l64

Depending on how it is implemented, it is possible that Google can also track you if you are using the Safe Browsing Service.

https://developer.android.com/develop/ui/views/layout/webapps/managing-webview#safe-browsing

As the documentation on exactly what Google is doing is nonexistent, and as it is almost certain that Google is abusing their "Safe Browsing" Service to spy on users, Privacy Browser Android disables it as well.

I saw this reddit post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PrivacyGuides/comments/webacf/do_browsers_based_on_android_system_webview_are/

Is it true? Does the default Android System WebView have its own telemetry? Thank you.

Post below:

Per my https://divestos.org/index.php?page=browsers#webview

These browsers must be combined with an up to date WebView provider to be secure.
If you are on stock/OEM version of Android or have Google Apps installed, you are likely using the Google/Chrome WebView with extra telemetry.
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=475#message-4752024-02-16T16:29:52ZSoren Stoutnersoren@stoutner.com

I think the importance of visually indicating to the user when a proxy is engaged makes this worth it. Changing this would probably make a lot of users unhappy. Do you have some other idea of how proxy status should be indicated?
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=474#message-4742024-02-16T15:27:21Zask low

Yes it is nice. It looks & feels "new" to me. But a cosmetic disadvantage of this, is the inconsistency of the colors across the interface.
For instance, the status bar is still dark. The dark websites & dark status bar makes the appbar look like it is sandwiched.
Should I open an issue to include status bar into this too ?
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=473#message-4732024-02-16T15:19:15ZSoren Stoutnersoren@stoutner.com

The app bar changes its color to indicate to the user that a proxy is being used. That is by design and one of the nice features of Privacy Browser.
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=472#message-4722024-02-16T14:50:57Zask low

Tq. I've set socks proxy 9050, that annoying Orbot dialog stopped nagging me now.
But the appbar changed it's color. Which looks so weird & inconsistent btw. Is there anyway to make it look like before ?
Privacy Browser Android Forum: RE: Tor over Invizible Pro ?https://redmine.stoutner.com/boards/1/topics/469?r=471#message-4712024-02-16T14:31:40ZSoren Stoutnersoren@stoutner.com

You can use the custom proxy option to use Tor without Orbot.
