Description

Sometimes can't keep track of opened tabs. When multiple tabs exist on days of heavy usage, they pile up. And this is not the users fault, as we always tend to open a new tab even if that page already exists in the current instance.

There are few browsers that have a nice concept, where you start typing in the url bar, and if that:
1. either matches the url of an opened tab
2. or matches the title of an opened tab
that tab's page would pop up as a suggestion beneath. This way, accessing an existing tab will be possible and the pile up of already existing tabs reduce.

In the same way, on pb, if there is a way to dynamically filter out existing tabs inside tab strip, based on the text we type in the url bar, would be cool.
I believe this will be a great UX feature. I hope there could be a way to do this through Android Standard Libraries, as chromium (desktop) itself does this in it's url suggestion popup.

This is a duplicate of Feature #525: Consider adding a secondary tab interface that fills the entire screen. You can leave any comments you might have there.

#525 is a UI concept Soren. This is not the UI, rather it's a UX feature. Filtering out an existing tab within the tab strip itself.

An example for this concept:
Let's say there are like 10 tabs inside tab strip.
You type something in the url bar. If any word matches either with any existing tab url (or title), then immediately filter out those tabs inside tab strip, negating the rest of the unmatched ones.
Case 1:
If multiple tabs filtered out for a word, then we can scroll them through the tab strip anyways.
Case 2:
If none got filtered, then cancel the filtering & keep the existing tabs in the strip as it is.

To come out of filter, either just open a new tab, or change to a different tab.
(which is why I titled this feature request as "tab filter support")

Any filtering of bookmarks would be a part of the separate, proposed bookmark interface. It would not be a part of the main tab interface that is already implemented. You are welcome to leave any comments on #525 if you would like to see filtering be a part of that interface.

Okay. Will continue there. But note that this has nothing to do with bookmark filtering btw.
Also, I'm proposing to implement this in main tab interface, because it'll keep the UI/UX free of clutter.

Sorry. You are correct. I wrote "bookmarks", but I was thinking "tabs". Funny how the mind works.
