Navigate back in the history and notice whether the favicon changes in SSL Certificate dialog (the one that you access from tab)

Don't get me wrong for what I say now.
I believe the codebase is not consistent at all. If you use favicons at multiple places in UI, then you should supposed to code it as one single function & call it wherever needed isn't that right ?

You might find it a little more complicated than that, but anytime you can improve the code base I would encourage you to submit a patch.
