I am unable to replicate your problem. Can you post a video so I can get a better idea of what is going on?
From a functionality perspective, all View Source does is copy the URL from the current tab, open a new tab, add view-source: to the beginning of the URL, and paste it into the new tab. You can get the same effect yourself by prepending view-source: to the beginning of any URL.
