  • Subject changed from Speed Dial and tab close button to Consider adding an option to display bookmarks in the body of new tabs

Please create a separate issue for each request. It makes tracking them easier.

The closing of tabs is addressed in https://redmine.stoutner.com/issues/416, which will be included in the 3.1 release.

There are a number of complexities relating to this that make it more complicated than might be readily anticipated. Specifically, displaying bookmarks would require dynamically replacing the WebView with a ListView. This would vastly complicate the UI and could create performance issues for people who never use this feature. As such, I am inclined to not go this direction. However, I will leave this feature request open to see what type of user feedback and interest it attracts.

This feature request doesn't have anything to do with the close button. If you have something to say about what some people call speed dial (a bookmark display in the WebView) you can add it here.

However, it should be noted that with the changes in 3.12 to be able to open a bookmark in a new tab, the need for some form of speed dial is diminished.

See the home page and tabs of other browsers. We want Vivaldi, Soul Browser, Opera (tablet mode) home page (speed dial) and tabs, we want a close button on the right side of the tabs, it's more useful this way.

Privacy Browser isn't trying to be like other browser. These are the specific design decisions that make Privacy Browser better than other browsers.

It's not like other browsers, but the close button (x) and quick search make it more convenient and faster to use when using privacy browser.

Each feature request should only be about one issue, which makes tracking changes easier. So, the only thing that should be discussed here is the display of bookmarks in new tabs.

Regarding that feature, have you tried the open bookmark in new tab feature described in #note-6?

Will you do it like in the picture? These features are needed, other users will also love this feature.

I am not inclined to do it as in the picture for the reasons already listed on this page. However, if you can add information that provides a compelling reason to do so that isn't already addressed above I would be willing to consider it. There are times when users point out some aspect of the workflow that I had not previously considered which I find compelling.

  • Status changed from New to Closed

I am going to close this feature request as I consider it highly unlikely I would ever display bookmarks in the place where the WebViews usually display. See #1115 as well.
