Description

When connecting to Tor with |Proxy -> Tor| and Orbot is working, but doesn't have active the option Allow Background Starts, the popup "Waiting for Orbot to connect" doesn't go away naturally (maybe because it doesn't detect Orbot correctly?). You have to manually dismiss it.

Thank you for opening a separate bug report.

In this case, this is the desired behavior. When selecting Tor as the proxy, Privacy Browser integrates tightly with Orbot to make sure that the VPN is up and running before attempting to load the URL. It sends an intent to Orbot asking it to start, and then displays the "Waiting for Orbot to connect" message until Orbot sends a response back saying that it is connected. If Orbot is programmed to not allow background starts, they it will never send this message back to Privacy Browser and the Waiting for Orbot message will never go away.

If you would like to use Privacy Browser without this integration, or use a different Tor provider besides Orbot, just use the custom proxy option, which makes no checks to make sure the proxy is connected. It assumes the user has taken care of that all on their own.
