Description
This will require Privacy WebView in the 4.x series, as Android's WebView does not expose controls for identifying the video files on a page.
I donno who would download videos in 2022, when almost everyone just streams media & forget about it. A browser in general, should focus on browsing / surfing improvements, rather than acting as a downloader (which is a complete application within itself). I think it's a priority 2.x not 4 at all.
Although not every user would use this, it is actually one of the more frequently requested features.
See https://www.stoutner.com/3-x-series-roadmap/ for an explanation of why this cannot be implemented before the 4.x series.
Okay, I haven't understood priority ranges before commenting on this.
But as you said, it might be a useful feature. But as a download manager, not as a browser pov.
I think the whole point of pb is to prioritize browsing privately instead of turning it into a downloader (which, other apps such as 1DM, ADM does fair job at it).
I think that one of the core aspects of Privacy Browser is to give users control over aspects of their browsing experience that websites often try to hide from them. One example of this is that the browser ought to make it easy to download and save any piece of content that is available on the screen.
easy to download and save any piece of content that is available on the screen.
But can't say the same for DRM applicable content.
On a smartphone, I can fairly say majority of the users just browse instead of grabbing contents & consuming them later (caz of the small form factors).
Not everyone would use this feature. But I can say that I would use it. Probably a lot.
