Question about safety

Added by Massimo Castellano 10 days ago

The App shows that my device is connected to a network with unsecured protocols, therefore at risk of stingray IMSI attacks. How can I fix this problem?
Also this App can advice me if there is a stingray IMSI attack ?Thank you

There isn't much that you as a user can do to secure your cell phone network. Your cell phone company has to install newer radios on their towers.

However, you can raise awareness in your community that your cell phone company is running insecure protocols, which can apply pressure on them to spend the money to upgrade.

Privacy Cell can tell you if you are connecting to an insecure network, but it can't do anything to increase the security of the network and it can't tell if the network is actually experiencing an IMSI attack. By definition, there is no way your cell phone can tell if it's traffic is being intercepted by an IMSI attack.

However, Privacy Cell does have a realtime notification option that will alert you every time your connection switches between a secure and an insecure connection. Currently, only 5G New Radio connections are secure. New Radio Non-Standalone connections are not secure, even though Android will list it as a 5G connection.
